Professor Ulrike Rivett is a leading researcher in Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) and Information Systems (IS). She completed her PhD at UCT and has been part of the university for many years. In addition, she has been an integral member of the Stanford University teaching team on ICT4D for over a decade, contributing to the global discourse on technology and development.
Her research explores how information technologies and systems management can address complex societal challenges across sectors such as health, water, and local governance. As the leader of the iCOMMS Research Team, Professor Rivett collaborates with government, municipalities, and rural communities to design and implement innovative, practical ICT solutions that deliver meaningful social impact. Her academic leadership and interdisciplinary approach continue to advance the role of IT management in sustainable development and inclusive innovation.
