Leadership and Strategy

Distinguish between leadership and management, and recognise their importance for facilities management.

Policies and Processes: Communication and Implementation

Understand why and how strategy is implemented through policies and processes.

MODULE 4
Maintenance, Life Cycles and Budgeting

Explore the relationship between ongoing operations, maintenance, and budgetary planning.

MODULE 5
Managing Projects and Stakeholders

Apply project and people management principles for facilities management.

MODULE 6
Tendering and Contract Management

Acquiring and managing external contracts.

MODULE 7
Compliance and Occupational Health and Safety

Learn about the importance of compliance and OHS for facilities management.

MODULE 8
Technology, Systems and Processes for Business Continuity

Explore the application of technology and tools for business continuity in facilities management.

Jacques Rousseau

Chair, Commerce Faculty Ethics in Research Committee, and Lecturer, Section for Applied Management, School of Management Studies, UCT

Jacques Rousseau is co-author of Critical Thinking, Science, and Pseudoscience: Why We Can’t Trust Our Brains (Springer, 2016). His extensive experience in governance and ethical oversight includes three elected terms on UCT’s Council (2012 to present), as well as various other committees that are responsible for planning and executing strategic change at the university. He regularly contributes to national debates on political developments and ethical controversies in the public sphere through op-eds, columns, and television or radio interviews.
