After completing his articles, during which he specialised in the financial services sector, Mellon joined UCT’s College of Accounting. He currently convenes and teaches management accounting and finance at the postgraduate level, and business analysis and governance at the undergraduate level. Mellon also lectures at the UCT Graduate School of Business, where he facilitates a module for the MBA programme, as well as a module for the master’s in international finance for students from the University of Amsterdam. He has completed his master’s in financial management and has a Postgraduate Diploma in tax law from UCT.

Dean holds a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting, a Postgraduate Diploma in accounting, a Higher Diploma in taxation and an MCom (Financial Management) from UCT. She worked as an assistant lecturer and financial statement analyst at UCT before moving into a supervisor role at Ernst & Young. Dean returned to UCT to lecture in 2015. She is involved in both undergrad and postgraduate courses in the management accounting and finance section at UCT, as well as the board courses (ITC and APC).
