Helena obtained her LLB degree with distinction from the University of Pretoria in 2006, where after she obtained an LLM from the University of Stellenbosch in 2008. In 2009, she qualified as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. During her time in practice, she mostly engaged in litigation, including commercial litigation and medical negligence. She is a senior lecturer in the Department of Commercial Law at the University of Cape Town, as well as an ad hoc lecturer at the University of the Western Cape. She has consulted with small to medium enterprises on aspects of good corporate governance and structure, and has also presented workshops on compliance management aimed at corporate managers in various industries.
