Over the duration of this online short course, you’ll work through the following modules:
MODULE 1 Business Analytics and Data Visualisation
Explore descriptive statistics and data visualisation.
MODULE 2 Business Intelligence and Data Storytelling
Understand how SQL is used, dive into your data using Tableau, and explore data storytelling.
MODULE 3 Factor Analysis
Describe the co-variant relationship between a large number of variables in terms of a few underlying factors.
MODULE 4 Cluster Analysis
Find similarities among observations based on the characteristics they possess and segment them.
MODULE 5 Multiple Regression
Model the relationship between a numerical dependent variable and independent variables.
MODULE 6 Logistic Regression
Classify observations into the classes of a response variable with a probabilistic view.
MODULE 7 Classification Trees
Classify observations into the classes of a response variable utilising a tree structure.
MODULE 8 Business Analysis and the Future of Data Analytics
Combine data analysis concepts in a final report and explore the future of data.

Dr Adheesh Budree
Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Commerce, UCT
Specialising in e-commerce, the economics of technology, disruptive innovation, and information and communications technologies for development (ICT4D), Budree holds a PhD from the University of the Western Cape, a Master of Science in financial economics from the University of London, and a Postgraduate Certificate in environmental economics from Rhodes University. He also has a Diploma in business analysis from the Faculty Training Institute (FTI), an honours in information systems from Unisa, and a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and business information systems from the then-University of Natal.

Statistics Lecturer, Department of Statistical Sciences, UCT
Er has a Bachelor of Science degree in management engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and a PhD in quantitative methods from Istanbul University. Er’s PhD thesis, entitled “Dynamic Panel Data Analysis and the Determinants of Stock Returns in Turkish Manufacturing Sector”, addresses the issue of the applicability of efficient market theory to the Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) market.
