Dr Sumarie Roodt
Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information Systems, University of Cape Town
Dr Roodt has been teaching and conducting research at UCT since 2012. She is also a research associate at the Centre for Information Technology and National Development in Africa (CITANDA) and is a National Research Foundation (NRF)-rated researcher in the Young Emerging Researcher category. Before joining academia, Roodt worked as a project manager and strategy consultant in the industry for a number of years.
Roodt has a PhD in informatics from the University of Pretoria, an MBA from UCT, an honours in psychology from Unisa, and a Bachelor of Commerce in informatics from the University of Pretoria. She also furthered her studies at the Chicago Booth School of Business, specialising in entrepreneurial finance and private equity of high-tech companies, and attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education programme on mind, brain, and education. Roodt is the president of the Silicon Cape Initiative, which is Africa’s largest, most established, and most productive technology innovation network, and she also serves on the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) working group for science- and innovation-driven entrepreneurship.
This course is relevant to professionals who have experience in project management.
In order to ensure that this course is suitable for you, you’ll be required to submit a suitable project to your Head Tutor for approval once the course goes live. This approved project will be used as a building block for your ongoing project plan. It’ll also ensure that at the end of this 12-week online short course you’ll have a completed plan for a real-world project that can be practically applied in your current role.
