About This Course

The University of Cape Town Digital Marketing online course explores how digital marketing helps organisations engage and resonate with their target audiences to meet business objectives. The course explores the key elements of an effective digital marketing strategy while acknowledging the need for a more nuanced approach within the unique context of South Africa. Over six weeks, you’ll gain the tools and insights you need to apply best practices in the various aspects of digital marketing, including website creation, copywriting, and social media marketing. You’ll learn about the power of web analytics and search engine optimisation (SEO), the elements of an effective content marketing strategy, the evolution of online advertising, and the role influencer marketing plays within a broader digital marketing strategy. Through exposure to research, case studies, and insights from your Course Convener, Dr Nqobile Bundwini, and various experts and practitioners within the industry, you’ll be equipped to create and launch effective digital marketing strategies.

What This Course Covers

This course provides you with the skills to implement your own digital marketing tactics and strategies. Through an ongoing project, you’ll learn how to draft a social media marketing proposal that aligns with business objectives. You’ll examine the value of online advertising, email marketing, and web analytics insights, and use your knowledge to create a website as part of your digital marketing strategy. You’ll also learn how to effectively use search engine optimisation (SEO) to improve website rankings and drive organic growth. Additionally, you’ll build your copywriting skills to create online content that engages target audiences and achieves digital marketing objectives.

This course forms part of the Digital Marketing Strategy bundle from UCT, where you can sign up for three courses at a reduced rate and at dates of your choosing.

About the Certificate

Earn a certificate of completion from the University of Cape Town, Africa’s leading university, as recognition of your newly developed skills.

Assessment is continuous and based on a series of practical assignments completed online. In order to be issued with a digital certificate, you’ll need to meet the requirements outlined in the course handbook. The handbook will be made available to you as soon as you begin the course.

Your digital certificate will be issued in your legal name and sent to you upon successful completion of the course, as per the stipulated requirements. Please note, due to additional administrative requirements, at times UCT course certificate delivery may be delayed by several weeks/months.

Dr Nqobile Bundwini

Senior Lecturer in Marketing, School of Management Studies, UCT

Dr Nqobile Bundwini brings a wealth of expertise to her role. After obtaining her PhD in Business Science from UCT, she went on to share her knowledge through courses such as Consumer Behaviour, Contemporary Marketing Issues, Integrated Marketing Communications, and Research Methodology. She actively guides PhD, master’s, and honours students at the university and has contributed to course development and reviews at the Independent Institute of Education (IIE) and Red & Yellow Creative School of Business. She regularly shares her insights internationally, presenting research in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA. Dr Bundwini extends her academic influence to radio and documentary platforms during her free time. She is committed to education and dedicated to empowering her students with the skills for autonomy and, ultimately, freedom.
